"The Bolton Bullfrog"
Bernard Wrigley
The Funniest man in Folk!

From starting in folk clubs, and then writing & performing at the Octagon theatre in Bolton, his career has alway combined singing and acting. From TV programmes and films such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Phoenix Nights, Dinner Ladies, Alan Bennett films, Brassed Off, My Son The Fanatic & Coogan's Run, to the many radio plays and programmes he's presented or guested upon, there has throughout been a steady stream of LPs and CDs - fifteen to date, the early ones all now remastered to CD.

There's a recent book (2008) of daft one verse poems The Longs & The Shorts Of It, to complement the first book Shorts For All Occasions, released in 2006. He loves the varied nature of it all, such as one week reading a series of very silly customs on the Mark & Lard show on BBC Radio One, then being a prisoner in a TV advert for Walls Sausages, being murdered on TV in Harbour Lights and later going to Norway for a commercial.

On his second visit to the club he did not disappoint with a completely new selection from his vast repertoire. The usual mirth and merriment came from his short verses, his full monologues and his funny songs one of the best being the Yawning Song. Of course the bass concertina farted its way into the act but best of all for some was the generous helping of Bernard's excellent guitar playing of songs like Ain't Misbehavin' and Your Feet's Too Big. All in all a brliant occasion with a full house and people asking as they were leavi, "When Is He Coming Back?" Enough said!
