Carl Corbett started the evening with The fathers song by Ewen McColl and his own 1710 train song followed by The Armoury to the Crown about the death of a public house. Zoe Mulford then did the Beatles Blackbird and three of her own followed by a traditional song, Carl then confidently introduced his idol Jez Lowe who worked really hard and the variety of his songs was phenomenal. He established a remarkable rapport with the audience right from the beginning and people were joining in with his songs with great enthusiasm. Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the evening. Eric then took over the second half as compère and took charge of the raffle. We had some good prizes including the glasses from Alan, two boxes of chocs, one donated by Kate, a bottle of whisky, a half bottle of wine, a beach bag, a box of chocolate biscuits and an M & S striped teashirt donated by Jez Lowe, plus, of course, a Folk North West. Eric sang just one Jacques Brel song, Amsterdam, but he threw in all the actions and exotic spins, which certainly stunned those who had never experienced him before. Finally we were treated to the second set from Jez Lowe when he continued with his act, playing a wide variety of instruments to accompany his songs. He was cheered into an encore and finished the evening with his famous dog song - Aloysius.
