The usual formula was adopted with the two boats from Stockton Heath and a full complement of happy souls initially braving the fresh, misty morning only to be rewarded as it lifted to reveal a lovely mild, sunny day on which to celebrate Heather Kenyon's birthday. The cool start was repelled with tasty bacon sarnies and hot mugs of tea and coffee but soon the hardy people were up on deck demanding a go on the tiller and welcoming the warming of the day leading to the clearing skies after we passed through Lymm with some of us up on deck and some down below.

A great lunchtime session in The Old No 3 was started by Mark & Jan with The Blue Cockade and they were quickly followed by Jean's Do You Want Your Old Lobby Washed Down, Rob' s Liverpool Girls, Ed's Funeral Song, Jo with Rambling Boy, Jim & Lynn with a couple of Irish Songs, Robin & Isobel with an a cappella and Dandelion Wine from Contraband. On the return trip we even managed to squeeze in some more music on the towpath before handing back the boat.

Overall this was one of our best ever trips out and next up will be a walk round Whitchurch and a visit to Anne & Graham in their new Public House. We are sure of excellent food and a welcome to sing and entertain the locals afterwards so watch out for it on the website.
