New Year 2012 on Anglesey

The not so dirty dozen arrived in the rented house overlooking Sandy Bay just north of Holyhead ready and willing to celebrate the New Year including Mollie the cocker spaniel.

Sandy Bay in the Sunshine would you believe and even the proverbial tree in the house but one of the best parts was played by Jackie in the kitchen and fortunately there were great culinary delights provided by everyone in their turn.

And all the time looking at the views from the Cottage.

Of course the non-combatants had to make other contributions like these four jokers providing Joan & Jackie with a laugh.

Red Wharf Bay provided the Car Walkers with a stunning end to their trip round the island and the Intrepids with respite after their climb up the mountain. Rob with the two members of the Mountain Rescue Team sent to bring him down safely to live to walk another day.

Canal Boat Trip No 2 - 7 October 2012

The usual formula was adopted with the two boats from Stockton Heath and a full complement of happy souls initially braving the fresh, misty morning only to be rewarded as it lifted to reveal a lovely mild, sunny day on which to celebrate Heather Kenyon's birthday. The cool start was repelled with tasty bacon sarnies and hot mugs of tea and coffee but soon the hardy people were up on deck demanding a go on the tiller and welcoming the warming of the day leading to the clearing skies after we passed through Lymm with some of us up on deck and some down below.

The Last Social Walk

The Last Social Walk

On
Sunday 13 May 2012 a nice gathering of twenty or so enjoyed a ramble from Acton Bridge encountering views of a fine viaduct complete with train, the river Weaver and associated bits of canal.

With glorious weather excess gear was soon stripped off and sunburn became a possibility only prevented by the refuge of the Bear's Paw in Frodsham.

It was about 4 miles and easy and lasted a pleasant couple of hours before returning to cars a short drive to the pub. Despite the crowd gathered for the football there was quick service of both food and drink al fresco and from about 5.00pm onwards music and singing followed after muscles and vocal cords had been lubricated and relaxed with Jean, Rob, Robin, Eddie, Don & Heather leading with raucous stuff which left Zoe to provide the class. Magic !!

There will be another one later in the year.
